Character 34 - Snow White

"I'm awfully sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. But you don't know what I've been through. And all because I was afraid. I'm so ashamed of the fuss I made."
- Snow White, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937)

So this one's a wee bit early this week, just because I had time to work on it yesterday and I really wanted to post it. I'm finally on the last day of class, waiting for my final exam to start and watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. There's a thought, actually... perhaps when I'm finished with my Disney countdown I'll start a Harry Potter one! Hmm.....

Next time, Jane Porter!

Almost there!

"People gonna come here from everywhere, 'cause I'm almost there!"
-The Princess and the Frog (2009)

I can't help but sing this song every time something happens to push me closer to Florida! Obviously it's been a while since I last uploaded anything, but don't fret! I believe I've found a way to continue with my Disney sketches even with my horribly busy schedule! First, let's break down why I've been feeling so positive lately:

#1 I've just gotten myself a new job!
I haven't really talked about any of my work history on here, mainly because I want to stay focused on the sketches this time around, but my last handful of months have been pretty rocky job-wise. I landed myself a graphic design job for a few months, which was great at first, but it just didn't pay the bills! I guess that's how it is for artists nowadays, especially when you first start out: we're taken advantage of because we're so desperate for work...
BUT this is supposed to be POSITIVE, because two weeks ago (and after about a hundred applications filled out to different places) I got myself a job at Bath and Body Works! Oh, how I love the wonderful feeling of human interaction again after being cooped up in an office for so long... So far I love working there- and with me working again and my husband working as well that means we're that much closer to saving up enough to move to Florida!

#2 This is the last week of school for this semester!
As much as I loved going back to school, this semester has been a huge hassle, what with me and the hubby both working so much. It's hard to write an essay when when you barely have any time off! So once I'm done my final essay (which I'm actually working on right now), and I hand in my final project for my Graphics class (a whole website design!), and I take my final Geo exam, I'll be all finished! That leaves me to concentrate on working, working, working!

#3 It's finally SPRING!
After the oh so long Winter and the seemingly never ending cold weather, the plants have finally arrived (along with allergies...) and Spring has sprung! Nothing like a bright and sunny day to lift your spirits, right? Well it's definitely done a whole bunch to help improve my mood, especially on a great day like today!

Because of all these wonderfully positive things, I've decided to continue with my Disney sketches again! I think to give myself a wee bit of a break, though, I'm going to go back to the weekly posts that I did with the last countdown. So now, every weekend (possibly Friday or Saturday), I'll be continuing with the Disney character sketches! I'm still keeping the same list, so this Saturday you can look forward to seeing my sketch for Snow White! About time, huh?

Also, going weekly helps the blog stay true to it's name. Bi-daily Disney Magic just doesn't seem to sound as nice...

TTFN! (Ta ta for now!)

Character 33 - The Bride

"Til... death do us part..."
- Constance Hatchaway, the Bride, The Haunted Mansion (Disneyland, 1969)

For this one, there were a lot of different brides to choose from. I ended up picking my favorite one- the 90's Disneyland bride before they replaced her with the newest bride, Constance. The Haunted Mansion is my favorite Disney ride, and the bride is my favorite ghost (alongside the Ghost Host, of course)!

Also, I am super proud of this one. Without a doubt, this is my best sketch yet!

Next time, Snow White!

Character 32 - The Mayor of Halloweentown

"The king of Halloween has been blown to smithereens! Skeleton Jack is now a pile of dust!"
- The Mayor, The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

My first claymation character! I'm really proud of this one, but not as proud as I am of the next one... :)

Next time, The Bride!

Character 31 - Princess Kidagakash Nedakh

"A thousand years ago, the streets were lit and our people did not have to scavenge for food at the end of a crumbling city!"
- Princess Kidagakash Nedakh, Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

Right after Milo comes his lovely wife Kida! It's a shame that this movie didn't do so well with the critics, but it still holds a very special place in my heart.

Next time, The Mayor of Halloweentown!

Character 30 - Milo James Thatch

"You think it's some kind of a diamond. I thought it was some kind of a battery. But we're both wrong. It's their life force. That crystal is the only thing keeping these people alive. You take that away, and they'll die."
- Milo James Thatch, Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

One of my favorite Disney guys- I always like the nerdy ones :)

Next time, Kida!

Sunday, March 23, 2014

Character 29 - Ursula

"I can't stand it! It's too easy! The child is in love with a human. And not just any human. A prince!"
- Ursula, The Little Mermaid (1989)

Another for the villains section.

Next time, Milo Thatch!

Friday, March 21, 2014

Character 28 - Meeko

Meeko, Pocahontas (1995)

I guess there wouldn't be a quote for Meeko, since he can't speak! This is the third Pocahontas character, though- yay!

Next time, Ursula!

Character 27 - The Three Good Fairies: Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather

"But you can't sew! And she's never cooked!"
"Oh, it's simple."
"All you do is follow the book!"
- Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, Sleeping Beauty (1959)

Another triple character post! Now that I take a closer look, they are kind of similar to the last trio, aren't they? (red, green, and blue!)

Next time, Meeko!

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Character 26 - Hercules

"You know, when I was a kid, I would have given anything to be exactly like everybody else."
- Hercules, Hercules (1997)

Another one of my better ones! I'm slowly (very slowly) catching up to where I should be. I'll try to go on a rampage this weekend and get a bunch done.

Next time, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather!

Friday, March 14, 2014

Character 25 - Nani

"I'll tell you what. If you promise not to fight anymore, I promise not to yell at you, except on special occasions."
- Nani, Lilo & Stitch (2002)

I'll tell you what, Lilo & Stitch's art style is probably one of the hardest to capture out of any Disney movie. Maybe it's because I'm used to drawing angular, bony (lol) characters, but it was really hard for me to do this one!

Next time, Hercules!

Character 24 - Kronk

"Take him out of town and finish the job now!"
"What about dinner?"
"Kronk, this is kind of important."
"How about dessert?"
"Well, I suppose there's time for dessert."
"And coffee?"
"All right. A quick cup of coffee. Then take him out of town and finish the job!"
-Kronk (talking to Yzma), The Emporer's New Groove (2000)

Kronk, our lovable goofball. I would love to try his specialty Spinach Puffs.

Next time, Nani!

Monday, March 10, 2014

Character 23 - Pongo and Perdita

"Perdita, darling, are you alright?"
"Oh, of course, dear. After all, dogs were having puppies long before our time."
- Pongo and Perdita, 101 Dalmations (1961)

Another double character sketch- who could draw one of these two without the other?

Next time, Kronk!

Saturday, March 8, 2014

Character 22 - Prince Eric

"Isn't this great? The salty sea air, the wind blowing in your face. Aaah, the Perfect day to be at sea!"
- Prince Eric, The Little Mermaid (1989)

The first sketch of a character not in his/her normal outfit. I've always liked this scene with Eric in it, so I really wanted to use it for the sketch!

Next time, Pongo and Perdita!

Thursday, March 6, 2014

Character 21 - Captain John Smith

"Look, don't do this. Savage is just a word, uh, you know. For people who are uncivilized."
- John Smith, Pocahontas (1995)

Maybe not one of my better sketches, but definitely an improvement from when I first started WDM!

Next time, Prince Eric!

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Character 20 - Buzz Lightyear

"Locla law enforcement! It's about time you got here. I'm Buzz Lightyear, Space Ranger, Universe Protection Unit. My ship has crash-landed here by mistake."
- Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story (1995)

Another for Pixar! And finally the other half of the dynamic toy duo!

Next time, John Smith!

Sunday, March 2, 2014

Character 19 - Helga Sinclair

"Nothing personal."
- Helga Sinclair, Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

I'm starting to catch up! I have a whole bunch of sketches to post today- though I'm not completely back on track. Be patient with me, though!

Also, today is my 3rd wedding anniversary! Hard to believe that 3 years ago we were married, and not long after I began the first WDM blog!

Next time, Buzz Lightyear!

A Short Break

I probably should have posted this a few days ago, BEFORE I stopped sketching, but WDM will be taking a short break from sketches. It's only for a little while- I'm in no way canceling the blog!

However, when I do come back, I'm going to post all of the characters that I'm missing during the break (aka a bunch of post spam!), so my end date isn't changing!

I just ask that you please be patient with me- everything's fine!- but these next couple of days are really full because of school and work. To put it frankly, I have an essay due next Thursday, a quiz this Thursday, and I have a project for work that I need to get done ASAP!

See you all real soon!

Character 18 - Pain and Panic

"He's not gonna be happy when he gets out of there."
"You mean 'if' he gets out of there."
"If? If is good."
- Pain and Panic, Hercules (1997)

A little late! I had dinner with my family Friday and I completely forgot about WDM! (Silly me!)

Next time, Helga Sinclair!

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

Character 17 - The Bimbettes: Claudia, Laura, and Paula

"He's such a tall, dark, strong, and handsome brute!"
- Claudia, Laura, and Paula, Beauty and the Beast (1991)

My favorite triplets, the bimbettes! I actually didn't realize that the girls in Aladdin are supposed to be an homage to them! See for yourself!

Next time, Pain and Panic!

Monday, February 24, 2014

Character 16 - Merida

"There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it."
- Merida, Brave (2012)

Decided to go with the cartoon version, since its a TON easier to draw!

Next time, the Bimbettes!

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Character 15 - Mushu

"Hey! Dragon. Dra-gon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing. *hiss*"
- Mushu, Mulan (1998)

All caught up! And also this one is the first character that pairs up with another of my sketches (Shan Yu from Mulan)!

Next time, Merida!

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Character 14 - Shego

"If you need me, I'll be in there watching Kim Possible lose."
- Shego, Kim Possible (2002)

Probably one of the prettiest villains Disney has to offer! I've also always loved the art style that Kim Possible uses- especially the hips and lips ;)

Next time, Mushu!

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

Character 13 - Woody

"Buzz, you've got wings! You glow in the dark! Your helmet does that, that.. whoosh thing! You are a cool toy!"
- Woody, Toy Story (1995)

Yes, this one is late! I hate myself for putting it off, but luckily I was able to catch up!

Next time, Shego!

Same Blog, New Goal!

When I started this blog a few years back (has it been that long already?!), it was just a way to pass the time until my Walt Disney World honeymoon vacation. I knew I would have a hard time waiting for the trip, so I needed something to channel my excitement into.

I had to save up a LOT of money, and of course there were some speed bumps along the way. First our car was stolen, and I had to put everything I had saved up into a new car, then we had job problems, and a few deaths in the family. Somehow, though, we were able to make it through the 60 weeks it took waiting for the trip, and in the end it was wonderful and magical and everything you'd expect out of a Disney honeymoon.

Almost two years later, we decide we want to go back to Disney World. So, we start saving up money, and again I decided to do a sketch blog. What could I do though? I had already drawn almost every Disney animated movie, and I didn't want to draw them again. So this time I decided to draw characters. Of course there was way too many to draw once a week, so I ended up deciding on a sketch for every other day. This blog was going to be a lot more often than before, but also just as fun!

But, as expected, we hit a few more speed bumps along this road. We had moved around a bit since the last trip, and now we were stuck in an apartment that didn't really feel like home. So our plans changed. Instead of going on a trip to Disney, we were going to move to Florida and become Disney Cast Members!

There's still a lot of money that we need to save up, and a lot of things that we need to get done first (for example, I have school now, my credit needs some work, and there are a few bills that need to be paid off). So now, the blog will be a way for me to keep optimistic as I try to save up as much money as I can before next April. It's going to be hard, but maybe we can get some support along the way!

I can also do commissions for anyone that wants to purchase some of my artwork- email me at CircuitGirlArt@aol.com if you have any requests, Disney or otherwise! Not only would you be helping me out, but you'd get some of my wonderful artwork for your home!

Thanks to everyone who visits my blog, also! Your views give me lots of hope!
