"He's such a tall, dark, strong, and handsome brute!"
- Claudia, Laura, and Paula, Beauty and the Beast (1991)

My favorite triplets, the bimbettes! I actually didn't realize that the girls in Aladdin are supposed to be an homage to them! See for yourself!

Character 14 - Shego

"If you need me, I'll be in there watching Kim Possible lose."
- Shego, Kim Possible (2002)

Probably one of the prettiest villains Disney has to offer! I've also always loved the art style that Kim Possible uses- especially the hips and lips ;)

Next time, Mushu!

Character 13 - Woody

"Buzz, you've got wings! You glow in the dark! Your helmet does that, that.. whoosh thing! You are a cool toy!"
- Woody, Toy Story (1995)

Yes, this one is late! I hate myself for putting it off, but luckily I was able to catch up!

Next time, Shego!

Same Blog, New Goal!

When I started this blog a few years back (has it been that long already?!), it was just a way to pass the time until my Walt Disney World honeymoon vacation. I knew I would have a hard time waiting for the trip, so I needed something to channel my excitement into.

I had to save up a LOT of money, and of course there were some speed bumps along the way. First our car was stolen, and I had to put everything I had saved up into a new car, then we had job problems, and a few deaths in the family. Somehow, though, we were able to make it through the 60 weeks it took waiting for the trip, and in the end it was wonderful and magical and everything you'd expect out of a Disney honeymoon.

Almost two years later, we decide we want to go back to Disney World. So, we start saving up money, and again I decided to do a sketch blog. What could I do though? I had already drawn almost every Disney animated movie, and I didn't want to draw them again. So this time I decided to draw characters. Of course there was way too many to draw once a week, so I ended up deciding on a sketch for every other day. This blog was going to be a lot more often than before, but also just as fun!

But, as expected, we hit a few more speed bumps along this road. We had moved around a bit since the last trip, and now we were stuck in an apartment that didn't really feel like home. So our plans changed. Instead of going on a trip to Disney, we were going to move to Florida and become Disney Cast Members!

There's still a lot of money that we need to save up, and a lot of things that we need to get done first (for example, I have school now, my credit needs some work, and there are a few bills that need to be paid off). So now, the blog will be a way for me to keep optimistic as I try to save up as much money as I can before next April. It's going to be hard, but maybe we can get some support along the way!

I can also do commissions for anyone that wants to purchase some of my artwork- email me at CircuitGirlArt@aol.com if you have any requests, Disney or otherwise! Not only would you be helping me out, but you'd get some of my wonderful artwork for your home!

Thanks to everyone who visits my blog, also! Your views give me lots of hope!

- The Magic Mirror, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (1937)

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope everybody gets their true loves' kiss from that special someone!

Character 11- I can't believe we're already entering the double digits! Some of my Disney plans are already starting to change. I might be moving down there sooner than I first thought!

Character 10 - Mrs. Potts & Chip

Just barely made it in time to upload this one! I don;t know about everyone else, but over here on the East coast of the US we've been getting a LOT of snow lately! Right now I'm snowed in and expecting up to 18 inches! I can't wait for Spring!

Character 9 - The Caterpillar

"Stop! That is not spoken correctically. It goes: How doth the little crocodile improve his shining tail. And pour the waters of the Nile, on every golden scale. How cheerfully he seems to grin, how neatly spreads his claws. And welcomes little fishes in, with gently smiling jaws."
- The Caterpillar, Alice in Wonderland (1951)

Character number nine, everyone! And we've set a date for the trip- April 20th! Now all that's left is to save!

Next time, Mrs. Potts and Chip!

Extra Disney Magic: Disney Trip Countdown Blocks Calendar!

So I started thinking about a way to have a countdown to my trip (last time I used stickers on an actual calendar each day), and I remembered a foam block countdown calendar that I made for Christmas in middle school. After a short trip to AC Moore, I found a couple of things that helped me to make my own Disney trip countdown! I'll teach you how I made it here!

Here's what I used:
- 1" Wooden Blocks (4)
- 4" Flat Wooden Discs (2)
- Wooden Shadow Box, big enough for 3" across the inside (1)
- Sticker Paper (optional)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Paint

Step 1: Paint!

So, the first thing I did was decide exactly how I wanted the color scheme to look. A lot of Disney countdown calendars I saw online went with a Mickey color scheme (red, black, white, and yellow)- so I decided to use just about the same. I ended up picking red for the frame with black in the inside, black countdown blocks, black ears (circles), and white numbers.
You may need to use more than one layer (as I did), depending on what type of paint you used. Going over the wood with a base layer of spray paint beforehand can also help to make sure the paint isn't too thin.

Step 2: Ears!

Because I was going with a Mickey theme, I decided to put Mickey ears on the box frame. Using a marker, make sure to mark the places for the ears on the back of the frame beforehand, so you don't end up making them uneven when you glue them!
After that, take a hot glue gun or some craft glue, and firmly attach the painted "ears" to the back of the frame. Almost there!

Step 3: Numbering the Blocks

Next, you're going to want to add numbers to your blocks. I personally wanted my countdown to go up pretty high (a little over 400), so I used 4 blocks.
You can choose from 2 different ways to do the next part. The next step I took was to cut out Disney-font numbers from sticker paper (you can use label paper for something like this). However, if you're not that good with an exacto knife OR you just don't want to take so much time cutting them out, you can paint the numbers on!

Make sure, though, you follow this guide for what numbers should be on each block:

Block A: 1 2 3 4 5 9
Block B: 1 2 3 4 5 9
Block C: 7 8 0 1 2 3
Block D: 7 8 0 1 2 3

It doesn't matter what order you have the numbers in, just that you have certain numbers on each one. In this case, 9 can also double as a 6 (flipped upside-down).

Step 4: Finishing Touches!

So if you're like me, you like to go all out for your crafts- especially if it's for Disney! I bought a couple of extra things at AC Moore to help decorate!

Most of these (except for the gems) wouldn't really fit on the countdown, but it's always fun to prepare stuff for a scrapbook to make after you get back!

You can add glitter, gems, sequins, or anything else you like to your countdown blocks calendar! The shadowbox I bought actually came with something to hang it up on a wall!

Have fun crafting- and if anyone has their own countdown calendar feel free to send a link in the comments!

Character 8 - Mor'du

"He's bigger than a Cuillin, killin' armies with his paws.
Mor'du is never happy till the blood runs from his jaws.
He murders in the mountains and he fights with ev'ry clan.
His teeth and jowls have ripped the hearts fae many a highland man."
- Song of Mor'du, Brave (2012)

I had a LOT of fun drawing this one! I don't draw animals very often, but I guess when I do I do a very good job, because this turned out great- in my opinion, anyway!

Along the lines of the Disney planning, I've been watching a bunch of videos on Disney World character casting. I'm hoping in the next couple of years to move down there- maybe I'll be lucky enough to get a job as a face character! I at least plan on working somewhere in the park!

Next time, the Caterpillar!

Character 7 - Bernard and Miss Bianca

"Are you alright, dear?" "She tried to kill us. That terrible woman! Oh, if I was only a 10-foot mouse, I'd show her!"
-Bernard and Miss Bianca, The Rescuers (1977)

This week's is on time! Yay! And I have wonderful news about my job situation- I'm now the official Graphic Designer for the company, AND I'm going to be making and animating a mascot for them! It's so exciting!!

Next time, Mor'du!

Character 6 - Rafiki

"Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it."
-Rafiki, The Lion King (1994)

As promised, here's today's sketch (only 209 to go!)

Next time, Bernard and Ms. Bianca!

Character 5 - Pascal

"Why is he smiling at me?"
-Flynn Rider, referring to Pascal, Tangled (2010)

Unfortunately, I had to be late with this one (I don't want to start off getting behind with these!), but I actually didn't have a choice. I've moved again, and only just today have I been given access to the internet (so you can see there was no way for me to update it until now!)

Anywho, I'm working on today's sketch, which will be uploaded later tonight!

Next time, Rafiki!
